Vice President - John Eisenberg, K6YP

k6yp at arrl.net

John was born in Jamaica, Long Island, New York. He was fascinated by electronics at an early age and earned his Novice amateur radio license WV2EGR in 1957 followed shortly thereafter by a General ticket as WA2EGR. John’s interest in electronics led to a BSEE and a MSEE both from Cornell University.

After college, John went to work as a microwave engineer. He designed and produced some of the first low noise solid state microwave amplifiers. Believing there was a growing need for these amplifiers in both defense and commercial markets, John and two associates founded Narda Microwave Western Operation, a division of The Narda Microwave Corporation in 1975.

John left Narda West in 1984 to start John A Eisenberg and Associates, a RF and microwave consulting company. John participated in the startup of two additional businesses as a founder. WhereNet marketed a real time locating system using RF emitting tags attached used to track and locate items in manufacturing environments. Cool Dry developed a new concept for drying clothes which employed RF energy to do the job. John retired from industry and closed John A. Eisenberg and Associates in 2019.

He is now enjoying life pursuing his interests in travel, wine and food with his wife Joan and woodworking and amateur radio on his own. John currently holds an amateur Extra class license as K6YP and is an avid DXer. John needs just Syria to complete ARRL No. 1 Honor Roll. He also enjoys designing and building equipment for use at his ham radio station. John has been a member of the Northern CA DX Club since 1998 and has held all club Officer and Director positions except Treasurer. He Co-chaired the International DX Convention in 2007 and 2009 and has served on the IDXC committee as Major Prize Chair since 2007.

Treasurer - Frank Kibbish - N6OI

I was first licensed in 1975 as WN6MRQ. The call changed to WB6MRQ when I passed the General and Advanced tests on the same day less than a year later. I finally upgraded to Extra more than 30 years later, and changed my call to N6OI in 2012. I've only been serious about DXing for the last 15 years or so, but also do some public service work and some light contesting. Career wise, I spent nearly 40 years working in various high tech roles, and retired in 2018. I was a music major in college, and I still love to spend time playing music (clarinet, sax, guitar, vocals). My wife and I enjoy traveling when we can. I'm a member of NCDXC (obviously), NCCC, 10-X, and a life member of the ARRL.

Past President - Tony Dowler - K6BV

dxer at k6bv.net

I am a native-born San Franciscan who was originally licensed as KA6LSY in 1981 and almost immediately became a “DXer" having held the callsigns N6GBM, KM6DA & AA6ZA.  I have twice been on the other side of the pile-up operating from the U.K. as G0/N6GBM and from HV0A-The Vatican. My club affiliations have included San Francisco Radio Club, R.S.G.B., CXDC and NCDXC. When I am not on the air (RARE), my focus and enjoyment come from music and photography; oh, and I play the drums.

Director - Robert Chortek, AA6VB

Bob was first licensed as a Novice in 1976. His license lapsed while he was in college but was reintroduced to ham radio in 1990.  He fell in love with 80 meters while chasing Five Band DXCC and was soon bitten by the “Low Band Bug”.  After focusing almost entirely on 160 meters for about 15 years (a painful experience from a small city lot in the black hole of California) he finally turned his attention to DXing and qualifying for the Honor Roll.  Bob currently enjoys hunting for new countries and band fills between DXpeditions.  In addition to ham radio, his other hobbies include fly fishing for trout, skiing and triathlon.

N6PSE

Director -Paul Ewing, N6PSE

An amateur radio operator since 1982, who became a serious DXer in 1992, Paul Ewing loves to travel and has participated in the following DXpeditions:

YI9PSE           Iraq, Leader, April 2010

ST0R               Republic of South Sudan, July-August 2011 Co-Leader

3D2R               Rotuma Island DXpedition in Sept-Oct, 2011

ET3AA            Ethiopia, December, 2011

7O6T               Yemen, May 2012

3D2C               Conway Reef, September, 2012. Co-Leader

XZ1J               Myanmar, November 15-26th, 2013

E30FB             Eritrea, March 2015. Co-Leader

VP8STI           South Sandwich, January 2016. Co-Leader

VP8SGI           South Georgia, February 2016. Co-Leader

TX5S               Clipperton, January 2023.

H40WA           Temotu Province, February/March 2023. Co-Leader

Paul has operated from Turkey, Egypt, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro as well.  A highlight in his DXing career was his visit with Monk Apollo at Mount Athos in 2012.  Paul is a Life member of the ARRL; an A-1 Operator who supports the NCDXF and INDEXA; and the founder and president of the Intrepid-DX Group (www.Intrepid-DX.com), an international non-profit organization.
