Rubin held an advanced class license and was primarily a phone operator. Later, Rubin started to chase DX on RTTY. Rudin’s call was well known in the 1970’s and 1980 since he and his wife Ferne were QSL managers for many stations all over the world. When not chasing DX, Rubin ran a publishing business, mainly for QSL cards, using the printer he purchased from Hugh Cassidy, WA6AUD, after the West Coast DX Bulletin was closed down. He was a director in 1971 plus the membership committee in 1971. Rubin was awarded DX’er of the Year in 1973.

Dr. William Howard Myers, San Jose, CA. Howard was first licensed in 1923 with the call sign 9DCU, in Omaha, NE, where he and his brother Morgan operated a spark gap radio transmitter, from a loft in the family home. He was a mathematics professor (retired) and former department head at San Jose State. He preferred CW, held an Extra Class license, and was a member of the Northern California DX Club, NCDXC. Unfortunately, Howard became a Silent Key, in 1994.
